Shri Rabindranath Tagore’s vision of India Development is connected to the culture and tradition.

On 7th November 2023 Apollo University, Chittoor proudly welcomed the esteemed guest speaker, Dr. Bashabi Fraser, Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), Professor Emerita of English Literature and Creative Writing at Edinburgh Napier University, Scotland, and the Director of the Scottish Centre of Tagore. Dr. Fraser, an Indian-born Scottish academic, editor, translator, and writer, graciously accepted our invitation to address the gathering on “THE RELEVANCE of TAGORE IN THE WORLD TODAY.”

The event was graced by the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including Dr. H. Vinod Bhatt, the Vice Chancellor of Apollo University; Dr. Alfred Augustine, Dean of the AIMSR; Mr. Naresh Reddy, Chief Communications Officer; Dr. Prabhakar, and Dr. Bhaskar Reddy, Dean of Pharmacy.

The event commenced with a warm welcome extended to Dr. Fraser and the attending dignitaries. Following the welcome, our Vice Chancellor, Dr. H. Vinod Bhatt, delivered introductory remarks about our esteemed guest speaker.

Dr. Bashabi Fraser’s presentation delved into the life and work of Shri Rabindranath Tagore, emphasizing the message that Tagore conveyed about working towards a world where people of all regions and castes coexist peacefully, fostering a global environment free from conflict. Dr. Fraser highlighted Tagore’s vision and articulated reasons for the ongoing wars in various parts of the world, underscoring the urgency of addressing these issues. She also elucidated why Tagore chose poetry as a medium to instigate social change, underscoring the need for leaders to take immediate action to combat the escalating threat of global warming and its potential consequences for future generations.

The event culminated with Dr. Alfred Augustine presenting a token of appreciation to Dr. Bashabi Fraser, followed by a vote of thanks
