Dr. K. Prabakar is a visiting Professor at School of Management, TAU with four decades of Leadership in People Management for developing Human Capital, to enable Business growth with demonstrative contributions of in strategic HR Management, People Processes, Hospital Operations, Medical and Health Care Education. Dr. Prabakar’ s Academic credentials include, a Ph.D. from University of Madras, a Master’s in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from MSSW, a Bachelor in Law and Chemistry, Executive Management Program from IIM Bangalore and a Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from Indian Statistical Institute. From 1986 with Apollo Hospitals Group in Leadership positions with opportunities for Strategic Business planning, consulting for long term and short- term projects (National & International), Re- engineering of policies and processes, providing tactical inputs to support business development and revenue road maps, leveraging Human Capital. Dr Prabakar was the Corporate HR Head for the Apollo Hospitals Group spearheading HR functions for the Hospitals Division, covering 32,000 employees till 2010.

He was an Integral part of the Quality Standard Accreditation Processes for the Hospital Group and worked on ISO Quality Systems Certifications, Joint Commission International Accreditation, NABH, NABL, CII Business Excellence Award and Apollo Way initiatives with McKinsey for Apollo Chennai Hospitals. He was also In-charge of Lean Six Sigma processes across Units and was Instrumental in developing 5 Master Black Belt Candidates, 35 Black Belt candidates, 507 Green Belt candidates, 3300 Yellow Belts, 5S Trainers & 1200 5S team members at Grass root level as a part of nurturing culture of continuous improvement. From mid-2010, Dr Prabakar moved from HR function to Skilling & Education and started Apollo MedSkills as the first Skilling Initiative of the Group as CEO, set- up training centers at Chennai, Hyderabad, Patna and Guwahati. He was a part of the Core Committee to setup The Apollo University approved by the Government of Andhra Pradesh at Chittoor AP which has started functioning from academic year 2021-2022 with four Schools in Health Sciences, Technology, Management and Social Sciences. He is a Visiting Professor for HRM and Operations Management for School of Management with The Apollo University and has been a Visiting Faculty for MSSW, LIBA, University of Madras.
