The torch relay was conducted amid rousing cheers for Team India at the Paris Olympics
Taking inspiration from Greek drawings and the writings of Plutarch, The Apollo University, Chittoor, witnessed the kickoff of the torch relay in light of the anticipation building ahead of the Paris Olympics 2024. Captivating the long-standing Olympic traditions, the torch relay was organized to cheer for the Indian team representing the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris. One hundred and ten students of the university vivaciously participated in the relay and rally organized by the Department of Physical Education, The Apollo University, Chittoor, supporting the athletes from India representing the Paris Olympics.
The first torchbearer was Professor Potharaju M, Registrar of The Apollo University, Chittoor, who was also the chief guest of the event. The professor encouraged the students’ enthusiasm for representing the host country and the spirit of the Games, motivating the students to dress in white and carry the torch in front of the public to proudly cheer for their country. The registrar lit the torch, and the relay was held from Murukambattu town to the campus. Professor Potharaju M also flagged off the relay, and a proclamation rally was held to the Vivekananda statue in Chittoor.
Prof. Dr. K. Bhaskar Reddy, Professor & Dean of the Apollo Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dr. B. Nageswara Rao, Associate Professor of the School of Technology, Dr. Kabilan Annadurai, Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator of the School of Health Sciences, Mr. Kiran V. T., Assistant Professor of the School of Health Sciences, and Mr. Rakesh Kumar Yadav, Lecturer at the School of Health Sciences, decorated the event with their esteemed presence and participation. Mr. Parthasarathi Reddy, Security Supervisor at The Apollo University, Chittoor, was also present for the relay. The event coordinator and Assistant Director of Physical Education, Mr. Dilip Kumar, did an admirable job in organizing the event, making it a resounding success. The 2024 Summer Olympics are scheduled to take place in France from July 26 to August 11, and the preparations are in their final stages.
