Swachhata Campaign 4.0 Concludes with Plantation and Rally Led by Apollo Knowledge City Community
The Apollo University, Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (AIMSR), Apollo College of Nursing, and Apollo College of Physiotherapy, along with the NSS Wing and Eco Club, organized a successful Plantation Drive and Awareness Rally to promote the Special Campaign 4.0 for Swachhata, a Central Government initiative for cleanliness.
The Plantation Drive, held at three sites across the campus beginning at 2:00 PM, marked the concluding event in a series of activities organized as part of the Swachhata campaign since October 2. The Hon’ble Registrar, Prof. M. Potharaju, inaugurated the program by planting the first sapling, followed by faculties and students including Dr. Sethurama Subbaiah COE and Head of the School of Social Science, Dr. K. Bhaskar Reddy, Dean of the Apollo Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Dean (i/c) of the School of Health Sciences; Dr. Ramaiah Itumalla, Dean (i/c) of the School of Management; Dr. Sri Kiran V, Principal of Apollo College of Physiotherapy; and Dr. Jinto Mathew, Professor and Head of Apollo College of Nursing, all of whom joined in planting saplings to contribute to a greener campus. A total of 70 saplings were planted as part of this effort.
Following the plantation, Prof. M Potharaju, Registrar, flagged off a Road Rally from the university campus to Murukumbattu, the nearest junction, to raise awareness about cleanliness and promote the goals of the Swachhata campaign among the local community. More than 200 students, including members of the NSS Units, Eco Club, and students from AIMSR, Physiotherapy, Nursing, and various departments of The Apollo University, participated with enthusiasm, carrying banners, flags, placards and chanting slogans to spread the message of a cleaner environment.
Dr. Shahanaz D, NSS Unit Head and Assistant Professor at the School of Management, and Dr. Feroz Begum, Eco Club Faculty Coordinator and Assistant Professor at The Apollo University, led the organization of the event, ensuring its success and impact. Along with the coordinators, NSS Unit Heads, departmental coordinators, faculty members, and non-teaching staff also actively participated, reflecting the unified commitment of the entire university community.
This closing event in the Swachhata campaign underscored The Apollo University’s dedication to environmental responsibility and community engagement, concluding with a pledge from participants to continue working towards a cleaner, greener India in alignment with the campaign’s mission for a healthier nation.
