The Apollo University Pays Tribute to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad on National Education Day

The Quiz Club of The Apollo University organized the National Education Day Celebration on 15th November 2025 to honor the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India’s first Minister of Education and one of the foremost champions of modern learning. Held at Room 202, Admin Block, the event created a vibrant academic atmosphere that brought together students, faculty members, coordinators, and quiz enthusiasts in a shared spirit of learning and reflection.

The programme commenced with a floral tribute to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, symbolizing deep respect for his lifelong commitment to education, nation-building, and intellectual empowerment. His portrait, adorned with flowers reminded his vision for an educated, progressive India. Participants get edcated on Azad’s path-breaking contributions, particularly his emphasis on scientific inquiry, universal education, and the importance of literacy in shaping an equitable society.

Following the tribute, the gathering was addressed by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. H. Vinod Bhat, who was the Chief Guest of the event. In his inspiring address, Dr. Bhat emphasized that education must not be confined to classromms. Rather, true education nurtures character, broadens perspectives, and equips individuals to engage responsibly with the world around them. He highlighted Azad’s leadership and advocacy for inclusive and accessible education, where his ideals was a foundation for today in the progress of the academic landscape.

As the central highlight of the programme, the Quiz Club conducted an engaging Education Day Quiz, thoughtfully curated to enrich students’ knowledge about national education policies, key reforms, and the legacy of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. Participants engaged enthusiastically, responding to thought-provoking questions that encouraged critical thinking and awareness of India’s educational journey. The Quiz Club shared the happiness of the significant participation with more than 150 student members of the Quiz club and other interested clubs involved in its various activities. Notably, over 80 students took part in the National Education Day Quiz, with strong enthusiasm and academic curiosity.

The celebration concluded with a sense of accomplishment and inspiration. Students, faculty members, and staff from diverse departments appreciated the efforts of the Quiz Club—one that not only honored a national visionary but also stimulated discussions on the role of education in shaping society. The event led and initiated by the Quiz Club Faculty coordinator Mr. Rakesh Kumar Yadhav and his team of student coordinators provided a meaningful day for the Gen Z students about the struggles of freedom and independent India where once education was owned by a elite group of people with limited recourses. VC sirs address from being the 75 years of journey of independence from 20 universities to 1500 universities was a real inspiration for the students. Controller of Examination, Prof A. Sethuramasubbiah also inspired the students with inspiring stories of the leaders on the day. Dr. S S Shani, Assist Director, Student Affairs, and Ms. Anwesha Paul, Faculty coordinator Event Management Club was also present and supported the event.
