Inaugural of NPTEL Local Chapter
On 14th August 2024, The Apollo University, Chittoor, successfully inaugurated the NPTEL Local Chapter, followed by a workshop on NPTEL awareness in Lecture Hall 1 at 9:30 AM. The event was inaugurated by the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Professor H. Vinod Bhat, and attended by the Registrar, Prof. M. Potharaju, Deans, faculty members, and a large number of enthusiastic students.
The ceremony began with a warm welcome to all dignitaries and attendees. Professor H. Vinod Bhat officially inaugurated the NPTEL Local Chapter by lighting the ceremonial lamp, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in enhancing the learning experiences of both students and faculty. In his address, he highlighted the value of online learning platforms like NPTEL in bridging the gap between traditional education and the evolving demands of the modern workforce. He encouraged both students and faculty members to actively participate in NPTEL courses to gain additional skills and certifications that would benefit their academic and professional journeys.
Following the inauguration, an online awareness session was conducted until noon to familiarize students and faculty with the features, benefits, and opportunities provided by the NPTEL platform. The session was led by Mr. Shib Shankar Das, Senior Manager, NPTEL from IIT Madras, an expert in online education and course development.
Mr. Das’s presentation was insightful and engaging, covering the history and objectives of NPTEL, the variety of courses available, and the process for enrolling in and completing courses. He also discussed the significance of NPTEL certifications in enhancing student employability and provided guidance on effectively utilizing the platform’s resources. The workshop included a detailed demonstration of the NPTEL website, showcasing how to navigate the platform, access course materials, and participate in online discussions and assessments. The session was highly informative, further encouraging participants to fully leverage the NPTEL Local Chapter at Apollo University.
After Mr. Das’s session, the workshop was continued by Prof. Bharathi Balaji, Senior Officer of NPTEL, IIT Madras. Her presentation focused on the significance of NPTEL certification for both students and faculty members. She also highlighted the importance of such programs for GATE aspirants and NPTEL toppers. Prof. Balaji’s presentation successfully guided students on identifying domains and completing the relevant subjects under those domains. The session was a huge success, providing an enlightening experience for both students and teachers.
The organizers acknowledged the efforts of the Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, Prof. M. Potharaju, Controller of Examinations, Prof. Dr. Sethurama Subbaiah A., Deans, Prof. Dr. K.
