Founders Day Celebrations at Apollo Knowledge City: A Grand Tribute to Dr. Prathap C. Reddy

Apollo Knowledge City (AKC), Chittoor, came alive with week-long celebrations from 31st January to 5th February, for the birthday of Dr. Prathap C. Reddy, Chairman of Apollo Hospitals. The grand Founders Day celebrations were a heartfelt tribute to the visionary leader who has dedicated his life to revolutionizing healthcare and education.
A Week of Gratitude and Celebration
The inauguration of the Founders Day celebrations was graced by Dr. H. Vinod Bhat, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of The Apollo University, who flagged off the Sports Meet for faculty and staff on 31st January. The sports competitions, held from 31st January to 4th February, saw enthusiastic participation in ten different sporting events, bringing a spirit of wellness among the faculty and staff.
On 3rd February, the Event Management Club of The Apollo University introduced a unique and heartfelt gesture—the Wish Tree for the Chairman. Students, faculty, and staff penned down their personalized birthday wishes and messages of gratitude, which were then hung on the tree as a symbolic tribute to Dr. Reddy’s dedication to education, healthcare, and societal well-being for a healthier and happier future
The celebrations continued on 4th February with the inauguration of a Photo Exhibition on the Evolution of Apollo Knowledge City, Chittoor, meticulously organized by the Photography Club of The Apollo University—Snap Shots. This visual treat beautifully chronicled Dr. Reddy’s journey and AKC’s transformation into a hub of academic excellence and innovation. The Blood Donation Drive, inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor, saw an overwhelming response, with 300 students and staff members stepping forward to donate blood, embodying the spirit of selfless service inspired by the Chairman’s vision. As part of the Founders Day celebrations, orthopedic shoes were distributed to deserving security staff, reflecting AKC’s deep-rooted commitment to community welfare and appreciation for its workforce.
A Spectacular Tribute on Chairman’s Birthday
The highlight of the celebrations unfolded on 5th February, the birthday of Dr. Prathap C. Reddy, with an awe-inspiring Human Chain Tribute. In a breathtaking display of coordination and reverence, 950 students of Apollo Knowledge City came together to form the name “Dr. Prathap C. Reddy” in perfect synchronization. Each letter, composed of 60 students, symbolized the strength, unity, and admiration the institution holds for its founder. This moving tribute was reflected Chairman’s unparalleled impact on healthcare, education, and society at large.
On the occasion of Dr. Prathap C. Reddy’s birthday, fruits were distributed to the patients at the District Government Hospital, which operates under a PPP model, wishing them a speedy recovery and good health. As part of the Founder’s Day celebrations, a special initiative was undertaken to support the needy. Contributions, including essential supplies and provisions, were made to a local orphanage and care home in Chittoor, bringing smiles to the children and old age reinforcing the spirit of compassion and community service. The founder’s day initiatives and the series of events was led by Prof. M. Potharaju, The Registrar, The Apollo University, Alfred J Augustine, Dean, Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, and Mr. Naresh Kumar Reddy, Chief Operating Office, Apollo Knolwedge City .
