Apollo Knowledge City Marks the 77th Republic Day of India with Gravity and Greatness

On 26 January 2026, Apollo Knowledge City observed the 77th Republic Day of India, commemorating the adoption of the Constitution and reaffirming the nation’s foundational values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.
The celebrations started at 08.00 AM with an inspiring opening address that echoed on the historic dawn of 26 January 1950, when India adopted its Constitution and emerged as a sovereign democratic republic. The address reminded that Republic Day is not merely a ceremonial occasion, but a living promise—born of sacrifice, sustained by courage, and carried forward by every citizen, with a special responsibility resting on the youth of the nation.
At 8:00 AM, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. H. Vinod Bhat, accompanied by Dr. Parvati Bhat, Hon’ble Mrs. Vice Chancellor, was ceremoniously received on the red carpet by NSS volunteers. The dignitaries were welcomed with the traditional presentation of a shawl (kanduva) and badge pinning, symbolizing respect and goodwill. This was followed by a Guard of Honour presented by the Security Team of Apollo Knowledge City, reproducing discipline, vigilance, and service. In recognition of their firm dedication, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor presented gifts to the Head Guard, Mr. C. Redappa, conceding the vital role played by the security personnel in ensuring safety and order on campus.
At 8:10 AM, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor ceremonially unfurled the National Flag, joined by the Registrar, Prof. M Potharaju, Deans of AIMSR, Dr. Alfred J Augustine, the Unit Head of AKC, Mr. S Balraj, Associate Dean of AIMSR, Dr. Ramya Ramakrishnan, AIMSR, Dr, Usha Adiga, Associate Dean, Research , AIMSR, Deans of the Faculties of TAU, Dr. K Bhaskar Reddy, Dean AIPS and SoHS, Dr. D Jagadeesan, from School of Technology and Dr. D Shahanaz, Dean, School of Management, and the Principals of the constituent colleges, Dr. T Jayanti, Principal, College of Nursing, and Dr. Kiran, Principal College of Physiotheraphy. As the national flag fluttered against the morning sky, the campus resonated with the National Anthem, sung with admiration and pride, marking the official beginning of the 77th Republic Day celebrations and reaffirming faith in the nation’s constitutional ideals.
The spirit of patriotism continued with a vibrant March Past led followed by the flag unfurling by the Security Team and students of Apollo Knowledge City. Six well-organized platoons proudly represented the Security Team, NSS Units of TAU, AIMSR, Apollo College of Nursing, and various campus clubs. Marching with precision and unity, each platoon of 21 members revealed the diversity, strength, and shared purpose of the Apollo community. The march past, carefully coordinated by the Directorate of Physical Education with active support from the Security Team, stood as a powerful display of teamwork, discipline, and national pride.
After the march past, the dignitaries were formally received for the republic day address and main cultural ceremony. The event was graced by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor as the Chief Guest and the Republic Day Address delivered by the VC that followed inspired the gathering with insights into the significance of the constitution, civic responsibilities, and the vital role of education in shaping a responsible and progressive society.
The celebrations continued with a lively cultural programme highlighting India’s unity in diversity and rich heritage. Students from campus clubs, AIMSR and the Apollo College of Nursing presented performances that reflected patriotism, creativity, discipline, and teamwork. The pyramid formation by the nursing students emerged as a standout performance, earning widespread appreciation. The Media and Photography Club documented the event, capturing memorable moments throughout the celebrations.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and a special appreciation was extended to the organizing team, the Assistant Director, Directorate of Student Affairs, Dr. Shani S S, and Directorate of Physical Education, the Security Team, and administrative units including HR, Facilities, Maintenance, Purchase, and ICT. The celebrations concluded with a strong sense of unity, pride, and renewed dedication to constitutional values.
