overview
In a pioneering step toward student-led innovation and expression, The Apollo University proudly launched its very first podcast titled “The Apollo Talks”, a platform imagined, executed, and powered entirely by the students of The Apollo University.
The debut episode, titled “Leaders in Healthcare Education,” featured an exclusive conversation with Dr. H Vinod Bhat, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of The Apollo University. In the episode, Dr. Bhat shared his insights on the evolution of his personal and professional life as a healthcare educator, the significance of innovation in teaching, and his vision for TAU as a center of distinction. The episode delves into Dr. Bhat’s vision for healthcare education, the transformative role of technology and AI in learning, and the values that shape a world-class institution like TAU.
The formal inauguration of the podcast series was held on campus on 25th of April, 2025 and was graced by Prof. M Potharaju, Registrar, The Apollo University, who launched the podcast in the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Dr. Ramya Ramakrishnan, Associate Dean, AIMSR, and the Deans of various Schools of TAU. The event witnessed active participation from the university’s leadership, faculty, and enthusiastic students, all united by a shared commitment to amplify student voices and initiatives.
During the inauguration ceremony, Prof. M. Potharaju, Registrar, The Apollo University, addressed the gathering with an inspiring message. He applauded the students for their creativity, initiative, and commitment in bringing The Apollo Talks to life. Prof. Potharaju emphasized that such student-driven initiatives reflect the vibrant academic culture of TAU, where leadership, innovation, and collaboration are encouraged beyond the classroom. He proudly announced that the podcast was the first-ever 100% student-driven initiative undertaken on the campus, aligning perfectly with his vision and aspirations for the clubs at TAU.
Professor Potharaju highlighted how platforms like The Apollo Talks not only provide valuable learning experiences but also build essential life skills such as communication, teamwork, and critical thinking. Concluding his speech, he expressed his confidence that the podcast would evolve into a dynamic medium that bridges students with leaders across diverse fields, and he encouraged more students to dream big, take ownership, and create lasting impact within and beyond the campus.
What made The Apollo Talks truly exceptional was that it was entirely student-initiated and executed. The idea began with a simple yet powerful vision: to create a space where meaningful conversations with leaders, innovators, and achievers could be made accessible to students. A passionate team of students from different clubs brought this vision to life. The core team included: Akash Abhilash – Psychology Student from Eco Club, K. Bharadwaja – B. Tech CSE (Cybersecurity), School of Technology and a member of Trekking Club, and Tushar Bhogal – BMS, School of Health Sciences of Eco Club.
Following a round of auditions, Angel Mahajan, a Psychology student and part of the Event Management team, was selected as the host of the first episode. The recording and production process was a shining example of inter-club collaboration. The Media and Photography Clubs came forward to offer their technical support, ensuring professional-quality output.
Key contributors to production were Guru Charan Reddy, School of Technology from Media Club who was the Cinematography and Argdeep Ghosh, M.Sc Clinical Psychology who did the Editing. The Media Club of The Apollo University, under the guidance of Dr. Shaik Jakeer, Asisstant Professor and Faculty Club Coordinator served as the convener and organizing team for the inauguration ceremony, making the launch a memorable and professional event. The launch was also graced by Dr. S. S. Shani, Assistant Director, Student Affairs, and Dr. Keerthana Thankachan, Assistant Director, International Affairs and Press & Publications, Dr S. Feroz Begum, Faculty Club Coordinator, Eco Club, who, along with other faculty members, provided valuable guidance and wholehearted support to help the students transform their vision of the podcast into a reality.
The podcast was envisioned to grow into a dedicated communication platform on campus — a hub for listening, learning, and inspiration. It aimed to provide valuable opportunities for students to connect with thought leaders in healthcare, industry, culture, and the arts, and to hear perspectives that extend beyond textbooks.
The first episode received widespread appreciation from university administrators, faculty, and students alike. The quality, passion, and professionalism shown by the students were highly praised, making The Apollo Talks a model initiative for future student-led projects.
