Rose Garden Plantataion Drive Brings New Life to VIVIDHA Campus Zone
The NSS Units 1 & 2 of The Apollo University, along with the ECO Club, organized the VIVIDHA Rose Garden Plantation Drive on 15th November 2025 as part of the Campus Beautification Drive. The initiative aimed to enrich the natural landscape of the university, create green spaces for student wellbeing, and promote a culture of environmental mindfulness within the Vividha space aimed as the hub of student campus life.
The event was privileged with the gracious presence of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. H. Vinod Bhat, who served as the Chief Guest. Prof. M. Potharaju, Registrar, attended as the Guest of Honor. Their participation motivated the volunteers and helped to build an extracurricular eco-friendly and aesthetically pleasing campus space for club activities.
The programme began at 2:15 PM at the VIVIDHA Block Garden. NSS volunteers, ECO Club members, faculty coordinators, and students gathered with enthusiasm and readiness to contribute to campus greenery. The event opened with a note by the Vice Chancellor who highlighted the purpose of such drive and how such plans can be preserved and nurtured by owing then to enhance the learning environment. The plantation drive was formally inaugurated with the Chief Guest, Dr. H. Vinod Bhat, planting the first sapling, followed by the Guest of Honor, Prof. M. Potharaju. Participants then joined in planting a variety of rose saplings across the designated garden area. Students along with the facility department of The Apollo University, actively took part in digging, planting, watering, and arranging the saplings with care. The collaborative effort created a lively and engaging atmosphere.
The Campus Beautification Drive plays a vital role in improving the visual appeal of the Vividha and its surroundings, as the students during Saturday afternoons spend their time for extracurricular club hours creating serene spaces that promote positivity and wellbeing. The rose garden in particular is in this vision created as a space to become a vibrant spot on campus, adding both aesthetic charm and ecological value foreseen by the Directorate of Student Affairs. The Vice Chancellor encouraged the directorate and students to continue engaging in such initiatives and take shared responsibility for nurturing the culture of the campus space.
The event saw active involvement from NSS Units 1 & 2 volunteers, ECO Club members, faculty coordinators, and students from various schools of The Apollo University. Their spirited participation contributed to the successful execution of the plantation drive, is a a part of the mission of the campus to prioritize green initiatives and community engagement, ensuring that the campus remains a vibrant, eco-conscious space for all.
The program was led by the Directorate of Student Affairs led By Dr. S S Shani as Assistant Director, under the strong team of NSS Program Coordinator Dr. Hemadri Reddy, and Programme Officers Dr. Shaik Jakker and Ms. Gayathri A. The Directorate of Physical Education also provided necessary support as Vividha is also sharing its space with the directorate.
