National Reading Day Inspires a Culture of Lifelong Learning

The Readers Club of The Apollo University observed National Reading Day with fervor and intellect today, remembering the legacy of P.N. Panicker and celebrating the power of reading as a transformative habit for life.
The event began with a very powerful audiovisual presentation of P.N. Panicker's life and services and a brief segment describing the significance of National Reading Day, followed by a presentation from the Readers Club Faculty Coordinator, where he covered past activities of the Readers Club, current activities, and future milestones that encourage a reading culture across campus.
The Chief Guest, Dr. H. Vinod Bhat - Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of The Apollo University gave a very inspiring address on how reading could change one’s life, while connecting it to quality of life, personal development, spiritual growth, and intellectual development. He encouraged everyone that there is a value in every good book, whether serious or just for fun. “Every good book makes a better person”, he stated while encouraging the audience to read widely and become articulate and competent conversationalists.
An interactive and engaging ‘Fact and Fiction’ game was held afterwards, designed to assess literary content knowledge, yet could also deepen appreciation of reading for the audience.
The program also marked the distinguished presence of Prof M. Potharaju, Registrar, and Dr D. Jagadeesan, Dean, School of Technology, who supported the event. The regular encouragement and support of Prof M. Potharaju allowed the Readers Club to carry out this important celebration, which allows the Readers Club to remain committed to stimulating the literary spirit of academic life on campus. There was great participation from university faculty, staff, and students, particularly the Readers Club members, and the event was a perfect balance of knowledge, fun, and inspiration.
As the event came to a close, it walked away with a lasting message: reading is not merely a skill, it is a lifestyle that shapes character, broadens horizons and builds an intentional community. The National Reading Day at The Apollo University demonstrated the institution's commitment to developing intellectually curious, informed, and socially aware citizens. With sustained support from the leadership and the ongoing enthusiastic participation from the campus community, the Readers Club is well on its way to growing as an exemplar of literary engagement and developmental learning for life.
