EWYL Student Interns Lead Campus-Wide Digital Clean-Up

In alignment with the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva initiative, The Apollo University successfully organized a Digital Cleanliness Drive from 27th to 30th September 2025 as part of the campaign run at Apollo Knowledge City from 23rd September to 04th October. The program was conducted across all schools, departments, directorates, and establishments, aimed at promoting digital organization, workspace hygiene, and sustainable cleanliness practices. The drive emphasized that cleanliness is not just physical but extends to digital environments, improving efficiency, productivity, and overall professional discipline.
The entire initiative was led by EWYL Student Interns—Mr. Shaik Nihal, Ms. Manasa, and Mr. Rithish—who particularly planned, executed, and monitored the activities. Their management demonstrated the importance of student engagement in campus-wide initiatives, while also providing a platform for them to develop planning, coordination, and leadership skills. The program was guided by Dr. G. B. Hima Bindu, Deputy Director – ICT, who provided strategic direction, technical support, and institutional oversight, ensuring adherence to objectives and smooth execution. Senior IT executives, Mr. Ashok Kumar and Mr. Prasanna Kumar, supervised the drive, assisting with technical requirements and troubleshooting across departments.
The Digital Cleanliness Drive aimed to encourage students, faculty, and staff to maintain organized and clutter-free workspaces—both physical and digital and to raise awareness of digital hygiene, including proper file management, removal of redundant data, and safe storage practices. The drive also instilled sustainable cleanliness habits to enhance productivity, efficiency, and institutional pride. The three day campaign strengthened teamwork, leadership, and accountability among student interns through hands-on coordination and provided the values of Swachhata (cleanliness) and Seva (service) across the university community.
The three-day drive was executed in a structured manner, ensuring coverage of every department and establishment:
- Day 1 (27th September 2025): Focused on academic schools including the School of Management, Apollo Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Social Science, and School of Technology. Activities included decluttering desktops, organizing digital files, uninstalling unused applications, and ensuring systematic storage of academic materials.
- Day 2 (29th September 2025): Covered the School of Health Sciences and all directorates. The interns facilitated step-by-step cleaning processes, encouraging staff to back up important data, remove duplicates, and maintain updated databases. Sessions also included awareness talks about data security and digital hygiene.
- Day 3 (30th September 2025): Concluded with university establishments, the Office of the Controller of Examinations, and the Marketing Department. Interns worked closely with faculty and administrative staff to streamline departmental files, reorganize shared drives, and improve overall digital infrastructure.
The initiative witnessed active engagement from all levels of the university. EWYL Student Interns took the lead in every stage, from planning and scheduling to execution and reporting. They covered both academic and support departments and faaculty members and administrative staff participated enthusiastically, clearing their respective workspaces and supporting interns. Senior executives provided oversight, ensuring smooth technical operations and adherence to digital best practices. Deputy Director – ICT offered guidance and advice on implementing standardized digital organization protocols. From administrative wing to support services offices, interns coverd all departments and ensured that the cleaning drive was successful and effective in managing storage space.
The Digital Cleanliness Drive stands as a model initiative demonstrating the importance of integrating cleanliness, organization, and digital efficiency in academic institutions. Beyond physical and digital decluttering, the program strengthened awareness, teamwork, and responsibility, inspiring faculty, staff, and students to sustain these practices.
