Apollo University Celebrates Engineers’ Day 2024: Inspiring the Next Generation of Innovators
The Apollo University, Chittoor, celebrated Engineers’ Day with enthusiasm and reverence to honor the birth anniversary of the legendary engineer, Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, on 16th September 2024. The event, held at Lecture Hall 1 at 3:00 PM, was graced by the Registrar as the Chief Guest and attended by Deans, faculty members, and a large gathering of first-year students from the School of Technology.
The celebration began with a tribute to Sir Visvesvaraya, with flower petals offered before his portrait, symbolizing respect for his remarkable contributions to engineering, which have left an indelible mark on the nation.
In his keynote address, the Registrar delivered a stirring and motivational speech, urging students to embrace the spirit of innovation, dedication, and excellence in their engineering careers. He emphasized the pivotal role engineers play in shaping the future, stating, “Engineering is not just about building structures or creating technology; it’s about making life better for society as a whole.”
The Registrar shared inspiring anecdotes, tracing the origins of the word “Engineer” and highlighting its association with intellects and innovators. Drawing from the life of Sir Visvesvaraya, he spotlighted his innovative solutions in water resource management and contributions to India’s industrial development. The Registrar also touched on the importance of engineering in the modern world, especially in fields like Artificial Intelligence, and encouraged students to pursue their passions with perseverance. He cited examples of engineers who have led the way in solving some of the world’s most pressing issues, such as climate change, renewable energy, and artificial intelligence.
The students were deeply inspired by the Registrar’s words, particularly given his background as an engineer by both profession and passion. His speech left them with a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to their studies.
Dr. Charupalli Sunil Kumar, Dean (I/C) of the School of Technology, also addressed the audience, discussing the vast opportunities awaiting engineering professionals and recalling the contributions of pioneers whose work remains relevant even today. Dr. Hima Bindu G. B, Associate Professor and the event coordinator, delivered an equally inspiring address, speaking of the transformative power of engineering to change society and the world.
The occasion was filled with joy and pride as the university celebrated the educators and future engineers shaping tomorrow’s world. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of all dignitaries and participants in making the event a success.
