COURSE OVERVIEW
The Apollo University’s two-year Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) programme is crafted to help students achieve more advanced roles within the field of physiotherapy. The industry-aligned curriculum aims to establish new benchmarks in professional education and high-quality research. The MPT programme at The Apollo University aims to provide quality learning in evidence-based practice in the field of physiotherapy while developing sustainable community engagement and instilling research capacity.
The goals of the programme include enhancing academic excellence, expanding intellectual perspectives, developing self-discipline, instilling high principles towards personal growth and ultimately ensuring a well-rounded/holistic person. The aim is to develop an inexperienced novice into a competent physiotherapist with a sound knowledge base of the principles of physiotherapy, along with quality practical and clinical skills. The programme will also develop an appetite for research, furthering education and engaging in social services.
The MPT programme also offers specialisations, which allow you to develop expertise in different areas of physiotherapy, such as Orthopaedics, Neurology and Cardiopulmonary. MPT in Orthopaedics focuses on musculoskeletal conditions and rehabilitation methods, MPT in Neurology involves the study of patients with neurological disorders and neurorehabilitation and MPT in Cardiopulmonary prepares students to manage patients with cardiac and respiratory conditions.
PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES
- To provide students with sufficient theory, practical skills and clinical experience in physiotherapy practice.
- To prepare students to assess, analyse and evaluate information within a holistic model of health and wellbeing.
- To provide learning and clinical education experiences that focus on ethical, evidence-based and efficient physiotherapy treatment for both adult and paediatric patients/clients.
- To enable students to acquire competence in managing a variety of conditions, including musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, cardiovascular/pulmonary and integumentary disorders.
- To improve students’ understanding of the fundamental concepts of health, illness and disability
