Building Leaders and Investors: New Clubs Open for TAU Students
The Apollo University (TAU) proudly inaugurated two new clubs—the Finance and Investment Club and the Leadership Club—bringing the total number of clubs at the university to 17. The inauguration ceremony was held at 2:00 PM in the Lecture Hall, guided by the School of Management under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Ramaiah Itumalla, Dean (I/C), School of Management.
The event was graced by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. H. Vinod Bhat, as the Chief Guest, who officially inaugurated the clubs. In his address, Dr. Bhat emphasized the significance of these clubs in shaping students’ personal and professional lives. Highlighting the Finance and Investment Club, Dr. Bhat shared that the club, his brainchild, aims to get exposed to the channels of investment and financial obedience among students. “The club will encourage students to save, invest wisely, and understand financial administration, thereby fostering self-sufficiency and helping them combat inflation,” he said. The club is set to organize workshops and group activities focused on practical financial literacy.
Speaking on the Leadership Club, Dr. Bhat noted, “Leadership is an essential skill, whether leading a small group or managing at a corporate level. This club will allow students to develop their leadership potential.” Dr. Bhat also encouraged faculty members to actively participate in both clubs, enriching the initiatives with their expertise.
The Guest of Honor, Mr. Garry Shekar Gupta, Vice President of Axis Bank, delivered an intuitive address on financial discipline. He stressed the importance of maintaining a good credit score (CIBIL) and being vigilant against cybercrimes in today’s digital era. Mr. Gupta also shed light on modern investment opportunities while cautioning students against falling for schemes promising quick money, which could lead to financial instability.
The event was festive and grand, attended by esteemed dignitaries including, Prof. A. Sethuramasubbiah, Registrar (I/C) and Controller of Examinations, Dr. Ramya Ramakrishnan, Associate Dean, AIMSR, Dr. D. Jagadeesan, Associate Dean and IQAC Coordinator, TAU, Dr. R. Somasundaram, Assistant Professor, School of Management and Dr. S. Shani, Student Coordinator and Assistant Professor, School of Social Science along with several faculties and students.

Both clubs are open to students across all schools, providing opportunities to explore investment strategies and hone leadership skills. Dr. Itumalla serves as the Faculty Coordinator for the Leadership Club, with Dr. Arijit Meitra as the Student Coordinator. The Finance and Investment Club is led by Dr. Somasundaram R as the Faculty Coordinator, with Mr. P. Reddy Manoj as the Student Coordinator.”
