The Apollo University Hosts ‘Spring Week 2026’ in Collaboration with University of Leicester, UK

The Apollo University successfully conducted Spring Week 2026 for the BEng Computer Science 2+1 program, School of Technology, in collaboration with the University of Leicester, United Kingdom. The four-day program from 15th -18th April, 2026 aimed at enhancing students’ awareness of international education, global career opportunities, and academic pathways abroad.

The initiative provided students with comprehensive insights into overseas education systems, curriculum structures, career guidance, and cultural orientation related to studying in the UK. As part of the 2+1 international pathway model, the program enabled early engagement with global academic environments and international faculty.

Experts from the University of Leicester Professor Roy Crole (Associate Professor, School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences), Ms. Maxine Bodicoat-Brooks (Careers and Employability Lead), Prof. Francis Donbesuur (Associate Professor in Entrepreneurship), and Prof. Reiko Heckel (Professor of Software Engineering) interacted directly with students and conducted sessions from 9 AM -4 PM on academic support, student care, and emerging areas in Computer Science. Taster lectures on topics such as Haskell programming and AI-assisted modeling drew significant interest among participants.

The program commenced with a meeting between the leadership of The Apollo University in the presence of Dr. H Vinod Bhat, and representatives from the University of Leicester, where the significance and uniqueness of the TAU BEng Computer Science 2+1 international pathway model was highlighted. The model facilitates early exposure to international faculty, helping students build confidence and prepare for their academic transition to the UK in the final year.

In addition, sessions on career readiness covered the UK job market, application processes, and career planning strategies. These interactions enabled students to gain clarity on their career goals and understand the competencies required to succeed in a global professional environment. Interactive sessions between students and faculty served as a key highlight, allowing participants to engage in meaningful discussions on academic life, campus experience, and employment opportunities in the UK. Sessions on UK culture and lifestyle further enriched students’ understanding of international education. The programme was lead in The Apollo University with the strong leadership of Dr. D Jagadeesan, Dean, School of Technology and his Programme Coordinator and Associate Professor, SoT, Dr. T. Vivekanandhan; along with faculty members and students of the University.

The event also highlighted academic collaborations, including the initiation of a BBA 2+1 programme in partnership with University of Leicester, during which Prof. Francis Donbesuur held detailed discussions with Dr. D. Shahnaz, Dean, School of Management,

to further strengthen the programme’s academic framework and global outlook. Spring Week 2026 concluded successfully, strengthening students’ preparedness, awarding prizes to the winners of the competitions conducted during the sessions and acknowledging the team who is preparing the students for global academic and career pathways.
