Apollo launches “AI in Healthcare” Module – A step towards next-generation medical education

Chittoor, November 13: As Artificial Intelligence continues to redefine the future of healthcare, The Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (AIMSR), Chittoor has launched a special module titled “AI in Healthcare” for the MBBS 2025 batch, marking a significant milestone in blending advanced technology with modern medical education. The inaugural session, held at the AIMSR Administrative Block, Murakambattu, was addressed virtually by Dr. Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals Group. In her message, she said, “AI-driven healthcare is expanding rapidly across the globe, and Apollo’s goal is to lead this transformation.” She further announced that Apollo, in collaboration with Microsoft, will soon launch an innovative initiative titled ‘Doctor Co-Pilot’ in December to enhance clinical decision-making. “For a country like India, sustainable healthcare requires data-driven insights and technological expansion. Apollo is also establishing two new cancer detection centers as part of its innovation-led healthcare mission,” she added. Prof. Vinod Bhat, Vice-Chancellor of The Apollo University, highlighted Apollo’s consistent focus on academic excellence and innovation. “Through the AI in Healthcare module, students will develop scientific thinking, data-based decision-making, and improved clinical efficiency,” he noted. He emphasized that medical science is not just about precision but personalization, as treatment varies with each patient’s condition and genetic profile. “Students must understand AI deeply and apply it creatively in healthcare,” he said. Mr. Shivaramakrishnan V., CEO of Apollo Knowledge, joined virtually and said, “AI is the defining force of the future. Google is investing 15 billion dollars to set up an AI Data Center in Andhra Pradesh, while Microsoft is making multi-billion-dollar investments in Portugal for AI development — clear indicators of AI’s global impact.” He emphasized that collaboration between doctors and AI will make healthcare faster, more accurate, and more efficient. He also announced plans to introduce AI modules in Nursing, Allied Health Sciences, and other disciplines in the coming months. The event was attended by Mr. Ashish Sharma, Chief Business Officer, Apollo Hospitals, Dr. Alfred J. Augustine, Dean, AIMSR, Associate Deans Dr. Ramya Ramakrishnan and Dr. Usha Adiga, along with faculty members, department heads, and students.
