AIMSR Clinical Meet Stresses Careful Patient Examination and Diagnosis

Chittoor, January 20: A Clinical Meeting was organized on Tuesday under the aegis of the Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (AIMSR), Chittoor. The program was held at the Clinical Lecture Gallery of the District Hospital, Chittoor (DHH). AIMSR Associate Dean, Dr. Ramya Ramakrishnan, attended the meeting. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ramya Ramakrishnan emphasized that medical students must conduct patient examinations with utmost care and strictly adhere to established scientific and clinical standards. She underlined the importance of root cause analysis in clinical cases and stated that accurate diagnosis is possible only when inputs from all relevant departments are examined in a coordinated manner. She observed that such clinical meetings play a vital role in enhancing students’ practical skills, professional responsibility, and medico-legal awareness. From the Department of Ophthalmology, postgraduate student Dr. Gayathri delivered a presentation on the topic “Lens-Driven Crisis – Pain, Pressure and Vision.” She explained, with reference to clinical cases, how lens-related conditions can lead to ocular pain, raised intraocular pressure, and visual impairment, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis and timely intervention. The session was moderated by Assistant Professor Dr. Yamini Pradeesha, with the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Kumar Amruth, presiding. From the Department of Forensic Medicine, Prof. and Head Dr. K. Srinivasulu delivered a lecture on “Fetal Development and Its Medico-Legal Aspects.” He explained the stages of fetal development and elaborated on the associated medical and legal considerations, stressing the need for doctors to be well-versed in their legal responsibilities while practising medicine. The clinical meeting was coordinated by Dr. V. Rajesh Kumar, Clinical Meetings Coordinator, and jointly organized by the Departments of Ophthalmology and Forensic Medicine. Heads of departments, MBBS students, postgraduate students, interns, and faculty members participated in the program.
