Philately Club organizes a guest talk at Apollo University
Chittoor: The Philately Club of The Apollo University, Chittoor, organized a guest talk, with young philatelist Nandan Bhat addressing students on the significance of stamp collection. Nandan, a 13-year-old philatelist currently residing in Australia, developed an interest in stamp collection at the age of five. He has since built a well-organized collection, with a particular focus on stamps from Great Britain, studying their design, historical background, and postal evolution. In addition to philately, Nandan also collects coins and currency notes from various countries, including India and Australia, and has an interest in computer hardware. He noted that his curiosity about how systems work connects both his interest in postal history and modern technology. During the session, he spoke about philately as a knowledge-based hobby and explained how postage stamps reflect history, culture, and the development of postal systems. He highlighted how stamp collecting helps develop observation skills, patience, and an interest in history, sharing insights from his own experience as a young collector. Apollo University Vice-Chancellor Dr. H. Vinod Bhat attended the program and stressed the need to encourage academic and research-oriented hobbies among students. Students, faculty members, and members of the Philately Club participated in the guest talk.
