The Apollo University Sets Global Benchmark with UoL Pathway Induction Ceremony

The afternoon of September 1, 2025 will forever be etched as a luminous chapter in the story of The Apollo University (TAU). Under the banner of “Adhyay 2025: The Dawn of Global Education”, the University welcomed its first cohort of students into the historic 2+1 BEng Computer Science Pathway Programme in collaboration with the prestigious University of Leicester (UoL), UK.
The event was more than an induction—it was a celebration of dreams, collaborations, and the future of global education. The ceremony began with the dignitaries being escorted to the dais, followed by a prayer song that invoked an atmosphere of hope. The gathering of students, parents, and faculty felt the weight of new beginning as they sat witness to the opening of a new academic possibility.
The program commenced with a heartfelt welcome address by Dr. Keerthana Thankachan, Assistant Director, International Affairs, who eloquently set the tone for the day. She spoke of education as a bridge that connects nations and ideas, reminding everyone present that this programme is not merely a pathway but a promise. The audience was then addressed by Dr. T. Vivekanandan, Deputy Director Academic Affairs and Programme Coordinator, who elaborated on the structure, vision, and scope of the BEng Computer Science Pathway Programme. His remarks provided clarity and inspiration to the 42 enrolled students and their parents, emphasizing how this initiative will blend academic training in India with international exposure in the UK, equipping learners to be future-ready global technologists.
The highlight of the ceremony was the keynote address by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. H. Vinod Bhat, Chief Guest of the occasion. In his stirring speech, Dr. Bhat spoke not only as an academician and leader, but as a dreamer who envisions TAU as a crucible of global excellence. He recalled his own journey of building collaborations across the world from RWTH Aachen University, Germany and emphasized that education is no longer bounded by walls but is about building bridges across nations. His words inspired goosebumps among the gathering, reminding the students that they were pioneers in writing a new chapter for both TAU and themselves in terms of global academic exposures.
Prof. M. Potharaju, Registrar and Guest of Honour, faced the gathering with deep warmth and conviction. His presence reflected on the essence of partnerships, discipline, and institutional growth and emphasized the value of nurturing curiosity and creativity while upholding academic integrity. His support in every step was a gentle reminder that while infrastructure and collaborations matter, it is people—their passion and persistence—that shape the true inheritance of the success of the program. Marking the spirit of collaboration, the sessions will be enriched by the participation of Professors from the University of Leicester, UK online in the upcoming days as interaction and lectures. Their addresses symbolized the seamless global connectivity that lies at the heart of the programme.
Following the keynote, a short audiovisual presentation showcased the vibrant TAU campus and its modern facilities. Students and parents experienced, through visuals, the ethos of the ecosystem where learning thrives in synergy with innovation and community. Subsequently, Dr. G. B. Himabindu, Deputy Director, ICT, introduced the faculty members who will mentor the cohort. Each faculty introduction reflected the strength and scholarly skills who are not only subject experts but also committed guides and mentors. The presence of Prof. Dr. K. Bhaskar Reddy, Dean of the School of Health Sciences and Apollo Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Dr. Ramaiah Itumalla, Dean of the School of Management, further added grace and grandeur to the occasion.
A group photograph captured the gathering, immortalizing the faces of the pioneers of this academic journey along with the leaders. The induction of the Adhyay 2025 cohort was not merely an academic formality—it was a defining moment in the development of The Apollo University. It symbolized a bold leap toward global education, where partnerships with leading institutions like the University of Leicester will empower students to transcend boundaries, embrace innovation, and emerge as global leaders.
