AIMSR Opens Genomics and Informatics Research Lab, Ushering in a New Era of Biomedical Research

The Department of Biochemistry at the Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (AIMSR), Chittoor, inaugurated the Genomics and Informatics Research Lab (GIRL) on Saturday, marking a significant milestone in advancing biomedical research and innovation.
The newly established lab was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. H. Vinod Bhat, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, The Apollo University, Chittoor. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art instruments, advanced computing systems, and specialized data analysis software designed to support cutting-edge research in Genomics, Bioinformatics, and Biochemistry.
The lab provides an enabling environment for molecular biology analyses and bioinformatics data modeling, and is designed mainly to facilitate undergraduate research. It will also support hands-on training, data interpretation workshops, and interdisciplinary research projects, fostering research-oriented learning among students and young scientists.
The event was attended by Prof. M. Potharaju, Registrar, The Apollo University; Dr. Alfred J. Augustine, Dean, AIMSR; and Mr. P. Naresh Kumar Reddy, Chief Operating Officer, AIMSR.
The program was coordinated by Dr. Usha S. Adiga, Associate Dean (Research) and Head, Department of Biochemistry, AIMSR. Faculty members, researchers, medical professionals, and students actively participated in the inaugural ceremony. The new facility is expected to strengthen AIMSR’s commitment to promoting high-impact biomedical research.
