Teachers’ Day Celebration 2026 – “Aacharya Devo Bhava”

The Event Management Club, Directorate of Student Affairs, The Apollo University, organised the Teachers’ Day Celebration 2026 with the theme “Aacharya Devo Bhava”, as a heartfelt tribute to the teaching fraternity and to acknowledge the contribution of teachers in shaping the lives, careers and futures of students. The celebration brought together faculty members and students in an atmosphere of gratitude, respect, joy and camaraderie.

The programme was inaugurated by the Honourable Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Nitin M. Nagarkar, The Apollo University, who graced the occasion and formally commenced the celebrations. Mr. Anil Kumar S., Registrar, The Apollo University, Mr. S Balraj, Unit Head, AKC Campus and Dr. T Jayanti, Principal, Apollo College of Nursing were also present as the Guest of Honours along with the Deans of the Schools of The Apollo University. The presence of the University leadership and heads promoted the institution’s deep appreciation and respect for its teachers and their dedicated service to education and student development.

The celebration commenced with Guru Pooja, symbolising respect towards teachers and recognising their role as mentors, role models and guiding lights in the educational journey of students. The traditional ceremony was followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, marking the auspicious beginning of the programme and symbolising the illumination of knowledge, wisdom and learning. A cake-cutting ceremony was organised as part of the celebrations, adding a warm and joyful element to the occasion. The faculty members and students came together to celebrate the spirit of Teachers’ Day. The programme was further enlivened by a vibrant musical band performance, which created an energetic and festive atmosphere and added to the enjoyment of the celebrations.

The event also featured a series of cultural programmes presented by students, showcasing their creativity, enthusiasm and talent. Adding to the fun and excitement of the occasion, a variety of games and recreational activities were organised exclusively for teachers. The activities provided faculty members with an opportunity to participate, interact and enjoy moments of relaxation away from their routine academic responsibilities. The enthusiastic participation of teachers created an atmosphere of camaraderie and togetherness, making the celebration enjoyable and memorable for everyone.

As part of the Teachers’ Day celebrations, the Eco Club of The Apollo University, also conducted a special Water Conservation Initiative titled “Green Pledge Wall – My Commitment to a Greener Campus.” The initiative aimed to promote awareness about the importance of water conservation and encourage the University community to adopt responsible and sustainable practices. As part of the activity, faculty members were invited to write short pledges and slogans expressing their commitment towards water conservation on the display boards placed at the Dr. PCRKC Auditorium. The teachers day event was coordinated by Dr. Reddy Jiishnu, Faculty Coordinator, Event Management Club, with the support of Mr. Daniel V., Assistant Director, Directorate of Student Affairs and the Eco Club initiative was envisioned by the Faculty Member, Dr. Feroz Begum and students of the club for water conservation.
