Dr. PCRKC Library Begins a New Learning and Research Chapter at The Apollo University

The Apollo University hit a big academic moment with the opening of the Dr. PCRKC Library on May 5, 2026. The inauguration reflected the commitment of the university in building up its academic resources and making a great environment for learning students, teachers, and researchers alike. The inauguration was in the presence of eminent dignitaries, faculty, staff, and scholars, who came together to observe the unveiling of the updated learning and information centre.

Designed to serve as a comprehensive academic resource hub, the Dr. PCRKC Library has been developed with advanced facilities and updated learning resources to support teaching, learning, research, and innovation across various disciplines of the university. The library presently houses a collection of 3,763 books covering medical sciences, technology, management, physiotherapy, and allied academic domains. In addition, the library subscribes to 19 academic journals, including 16 journals for the School of AIPS and one journal each for the School of Technology, School of Management, and Physiotherapy departments.

The inauguration of the Dr. PCRKC Library commenced with traditional pooja rituals performed by 10.30 AM to invoke blessings for knowledge, wisdom, and academic excellence. The ceremony was graced by Dr. H. Vinod Bhat, Vice Chancellor, The Apollo University, as the Chief Guest, in the presence of Dr. Nitin M. Nagarkar, Vice Chancellor Designate, along with university leadership, deans, and heads of departments, faculty members, and administrative officials. Marking the formal opening of the facility, Dr. H. Vinod Bhat ceremonially cut the ribbon and officially dedicated the library for university academic and administrative purposes.

One of the key highlights of the library is its modern technological integration. The facility is fully automated with RFID and Smart Card-enabled systems that facilitate smooth circulation management, efficient book issue and return processes, and enhanced security measures. The RFID-enabled environment significantly improves user convenience while ensuring effective library administration.

The library also offers a comfortable and student-friendly atmosphere with spacious seating arrangements, air-conditioned reading areas, dedicated newspaper and journal sections, CCTV surveillance, and high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity. To strengthen digital learning and research accessibility, subscriptions to reputed academic databases such as DELNET and IEEE have been integrated into the library services. These platforms provide access to a vast repository of e-books, research journals, conference proceedings, scholarly articles, and other electronic learning resources essential for academic advancement.

The guests of the inauguration ceremony highlighted that modern libraries are no longer limited to book repositories but function as dynamic academic spaces that

encourage exploration, collaboration, and innovation among learners and educators. After the formal ribbon cutting the dignitaries and guests took an interactive tour of the library premises, where they were introduced to the various facilities, digital resources, and automation features available within the centre by the Assistant Libraraian Dr. Mr Jiaur Rahaman. The Assistant Librarian also expressed gratitude to his colleague, Dr. T. Raghunadha Reddy, Assistant Librarian, acknowledging their collective efforts and dedication in implementing the new changes and integrations as part of the initiative. The establishment of the Dr. PCRKC Library stands as a valuable addition to the central Library of Apollo Knowledge City academic ecosystem and is expected to play a vital role in nurturing scholarly engagement and research-oriented learning in the years ahead.
