Cyber crime prevention at their premises

The Apollo Women Empowerment Cell organized a special session on Cyber crime prevention at their premises on 10th December, 2024. The session, aimed at empowering women with knowledge and skills to safeguard themselves against online threats, was conducted by Palli Umamaheswararao, Inspector of Police, Central Crime Station, Chittoor and K.Naga Sowjanya, Sub-Inspector of Police, Mahila Police Station, Chittoor.

The interactive session, attended by over 180 students, focused on various aspects of cyber crime, including online harassment, identity theft, and phishing scams. Palli Umamaheswararao, Inspector of Police, shared valuable insights and tips on how to identify potential threats, protect personal data, and report incidents to the authorities.

The Chief guest was Dr. Ramya Ramakrishnan, Associate Dean, AIMSR, who emphasized the importance of cyber safety and security in today’s digital age.

The Apollo Women Empowerment Cell, comprising of dedicated committee members, including Dr. Haseena, Convener, Dr. Shani, co-convener and members Dr. Kalyani, Dr. Divya, Dr. Shehnaaz, Ms. Denika and Mrs. Mangal Gowri, has been actively working towards promoting women’s safety and well-being in the university. This session was part of their ongoing efforts to educate and empower women and girls against various forms of exploitation.

“We are grateful to SI Nagasaujanya and IP Umamaheswarrao for sharing her expertise with us," said Dr. Haseena, Convener of the Apollo Women Empowerment Committee. “We hope that this session has equipped our participants with the knowledge and confidence to navigate the online world safely.” The session concluded with a Q&A session, where participants clarified their doubts and sought guidance on various cyber crime-related issues.
