Driving Change: Vice Chancellor Calls for a Student-Led Software Innovation Center at The Apollo University

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Technology, The Apollo University, organized a hands-on workshop on “Software Testing Tools” on Saturday, January 25, 2025. The full-day event aimed to provide students and participants with practical knowledge and industry insights into the latest software testing tools, methodologies and possible challenges.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. H. Vinod Bhat, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of The Apollo University, who graced the event as the Chief Guest. In his address, Dr. Bhat emphasized the growing importance of software testing in the day today life cycle and encouraged students to see such opportunities to enhance their technical expertise and career readiness for developing unique softwares that can be placed in the market as signatures. The Vice Chancellor encouraged and challenged the School of Technology to establish a Center for Software Development. This initiative, led by students and coordinated by faculty experts, aims to address the day-to-day challenges faced by the institution, Apollo Enterprises, and the industries from corner to corner. The proposed center would extend its benefits across various domains, including academics, industry operations, evaluation systems, inventory management, and Learning Management Systems, as a practical problem-solving method.

The event was honored by the presence of Prof. M. Potharaju, Registrar, The Apollo University, as the Guest of Honor. Prof. Potharaju encouraged the school to provide professionals who becomes the pillars of bridging the gap between academic learning and industry practices.

Mr. K. Manidhar Kumar, Associate QE Architect at Innominds Software SEZ India Pvt. Ltd., served as the resource person for the workshop. With his extensive experience in software quality engineering, Mr. Kumar provided an introduction to the hands-on training on cutting-edge tools and shared the overview of the practical insights into real-world applications of software testing.

The workshop was presided over by Dr. C. Sunil Kumar, Dean, School of Technology, and Dr. D. Jagadeesan, Associate Dean, School of Technology, whose efforts in organizing such impactful sessions is estimable. The coordinators of the workshop was Dr. Hima Bindu, and Dr. A. B. Manju, Faculties of the Department of CSE, School of Technology, whose dedication to preparing students for the competitive global job market is valued.

The event commenced at The Apollo University witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members. The workshop covered various modules and practical sessions, keeping the participants engaged throughout the day.
