One-Day State-Level Workshop on Introducing Code Lavender

One-Day State-Level Workshop on "Introducing Code Lavender: A Faculty-Led Wellness Initiative to reduce Examination Anxiety and enhance Coping among Students" on 10th July 2026.
Apollo College of Nursing, Chittoor, organized a One-Day State-Level Workshop on "Introducing Code Lavender: A Faculty-Led Wellness Initiative to reduce Examination Anxiety and enhance Coping among Students." The workshop was conducted with the following objectives:
· To provide knowledge regarding examination anxiety and its impact on students.
· To introduce Code Lavender as a faculty-led wellness initiative for managing examination anxiety.
· To enhance faculty competencies in anxiety assessment, therapeutic communication, and coping support.
· To develop skills in relaxation techniques and stress management strategies.
· To strengthen practical competencies through demonstrations and simulation-based learning.
· To promote student well-being, resilience, and supportive learning environments.
The programme was organized by Prof. A. E. Meenakshi, Department of Mental Health Nursing, with the dedicated support of the Organizing Committee comprising Mrs. Anusha, Associate Professor, Mr. Karthik, Ms. Nripa Vijay, Mrs. R. Vanisree, and Ms. Lekhya, Nursing Tutors, Apollo College of Nursing, Chittoor. The workshop was accredited by the Andhra Pradesh Nurses and Midwives Council (APNMC) and awarded with 3 credits.
· The programme commenced with the registration of 55 participants, including faculty members from various nursing colleges across Andhra Pradesh and participants from other departments of Allied Health Sciences & School Health Technology of The Apollo University. This was followed by a prayer song and a pre-test to assess the participants' baseline knowledge regarding examination anxiety and the Code Lavender concept.
· The program began with a welcome & key note address by Dr. T. Jayanthi, Principal, Apollo College of Nursing, Chittoor.
· Theme presentation was delivered by Dr. Kara Kaldawi, PhD, RN, APN, GCNS-BC, MEDSURG-BC, Director, Joint MC/ HMH Nursing Program, Middlesex College, New Jersey, USA through pre-recorded video.
· An online session on "Examination Anxiety: Causes, Effects, Assessment, and the Role of Faculty in Supporting Students" was delivered by Dr. Sujaya Devarayasamudram, Associate professor, North Carolina Central university, NC, USA.
· The workshop was formally inaugurated by Dr. Ramya Ramakrishnan, Dean- AIMSR.
· Following a short tea break, online session on Relaxation Techniques was presented through online by Paula O’Neill, MS,RN,HNB-BC,MEDSURG-BC, Manager and Co-founder, Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Raritan Bay Medical Center/Old Bridge Medical Center, New Jersey, USA.
· Dr. Catherine Poornaselvam, B.Sc. (N), M.Sc. (N), M.A. (Psychology), M.Phil. (N), Ph.D., Professor of Mental Health Nursing, Middlesex College, New Jersey, USA, conducted the offline sessions on "Introduction to Code Lavender" and "Code Lavender Cart Demonstration," providing participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical insights into the implementation of Code Lavender in educational settings.
· The latter half of the workshop focused on hands-on skill training and OSCE based skill evaluation, which included anxiety assessment (pre-test), faculty demonstration of the Code Lavender protocol, and anxiety assessment (post-test).
· The programme concluded with a post-test and participants' feedback session coordinated by Mrs. R. Vanisree, Mr. A. M. Krishna, and Ms. Lekhya, Nursing Tutors, followed by the presentation of the workshop report by Mrs. T. P. Ganga Devi, Assistant Professor, and the Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Nripa Vijay, Nursing Tutor. The workshop concluded with the National Anthem, marking the successful completion of the One-Day State-Level Workshop.
