Student Software Projects Highlighted During the Inauguration of the Centre for Software Development

The Apollo University marked a radical expansion in its pursuit of innovation, practical learning, and hands-on education with the inauguration of the Centre for Software Development (CSD) on 30th May 2026. The Centre was formally inaugurated by Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Dr. H. Vinod Bhat, at the Dr. Prathap C. Reddy Knowledge Centre, Ground Floor, in the presence of Dr. Nitin M. Nagarkar, Vice-Chancellor (Designate), Prof. M. Potharaju, Registrar, Mr. Anil Kumar S., Additional Registrar, Dr. Ramya Ramakrishnan, Associate Dean-AIMSR, Unit Head, Mr. S. Balraj, Dean-SoT, SoHS and AIPS, along with faculty members, staff, and students from various schools of the University.
The Centre for Software Development has been established with the vision of creating a lively ecosystem that develops software innovation, project-based learning, and industry-academia collaboration. The Centre aims to provide technology interested students with opportunities to work on real-world software development projects under the mentorship of faculty members, thereby bridging the gap between academic learning and industry requirements. By engaging students in the complete software development lifecycle, the Centre seeks to enhance their technical competencies, problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and professional readiness.
A key highlight of the inauguration ceremony was the presentation and demonstration of five software applications developed by students through the Centre. These applications have already been successfully deployed for various organizations, reflecting the practical relevance and societal impact of student-led innovation at The Apollo University. The showcased projects demonstrated the students' ability to identify real-world challenges, design effective technological solutions, and implement them using contemporary software development practices.
During the event, Dr. T. Vivekanandan, Deputy Director, Centre for Software Development, delivered a comprehensive presentation outlining the objectives, operational framework, achievements, and future roadmap of the Centre. He explained the conception, design, development, testing, and deployment processes adopted for each software application and highlighted the tangible benefits delivered to the respective organizations. The dignitaries appreciated the efforts of the faculty mentors and student developers who contributed to the successful completion of the projects. In his interaction, Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Dr. H. Vinod Bhat and the other guests commended the students for translating classroom knowledge into practical solutions that address organizational needs. He emphasized the importance of experiential learning, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration in preparing graduates for the evolving technology landscape. He also expressed confidence that the Centre for Software Development would emerge as a hub for technological advancement and contribute significantly to the University's mission of producing skilled and industry-ready professionals.
As part of the programme, certificates were distributed to students who had successfully completed and contributed to various software development initiatives undertaken through the Centre. The recognition aided as an encouragement for students to continue engaging in project-based learning and pursue innovative solutions to real-world problems.
