From Seeds of Interest to a Thriving Career: The Journey of Tejeswani
Introduction
I am Tejeswani, and my passion for understanding the human mind flourished during my Master’s in Clinical Psychology at The Apollo University, Chittoor (2022–2024).
My fascination began with the complexity of the brain—how this organ governs the entire body and shapes human behavior, with each brain being as unique as a fingerprint.
Academic Journey at The Apollo University
During my time at the university, I specialized in Clinical Psychology and actively participated in departmental events as both participant and organizer to promote mental health awareness.
These experiences helped break down stigma and foster understanding, significantly boosting my confidence and deepening my passion for psychology.
My curiosity about mental disorders was further strengthened through hands-on experience in the university’s psychiatric ward, where I worked alongside a dedicated clinical team.
A month-long internship at Apollo Hospitals, Mumbai, expanded my exposure to real-world clinical practice and reinforced my academic learning.
Career Journey
After completing my Master’s, I began my career as a Behavioral Therapist at Rising Sun Child Development Centre, Hyderabad.
In this role, I work closely with neurodivergent children and those with behavioral challenges, supporting their development through structured intervention plans.
The meaningful connections I build with children and the positive feedback from parents continue to inspire my professional journey.
Reflection
Looking back, I am deeply grateful to The Apollo University and its psychology department for the mentorship and guidance that shaped my career.
Psychology, to me, goes beyond treating mental disorders—it helps us understand ourselves, others, and the world with greater empathy and awareness.
It empowers us to appreciate life more deeply and build meaningful human connections.
