UK Professors Guide Medical Students at AIMSR

Insights on global medical careers and professional resilience Chittoor, December 20: With an objective to expose medical students to global career pathways and professional preparedness, the Apollo Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (AIMSR), Chittoor, organized a series of guest lectures on Saturday by visiting faculty from the United Kingdom. The first guest lecture was delivered by Prof. Sadashiv Selvakumar, who addressed the students on the topic “Career Opportunities in the UK.” He provided detailed insights into higher education prospects, employment pathways, required qualifications, training frameworks, and licensing procedures for medical professionals aspiring to pursue careers abroad. Emphasizing early career planning, he encouraged students to combine academic excellence with professional ethics to succeed in the international medical arena. The second guest lecture was delivered by Prof. Geetha Shetty on the theme “The Spirit of Resilience.” She highlighted the importance of mental strength and resilience in both personal and professional life, particularly in the demanding medical profession. Drawing from her own life experiences, she explained strategies for managing stress, maintaining emotional balance, and progressing with confidence despite challenges. She urged students to cultivate resilience as a core professional competency. The programme was attended by Mr. S. Balaraj, Unit Head, Apollo Knowledge City; Dr. Usha Adiga, Associate Dean, AIMSR; Dr. Shravanadeepthi, Faculty Coordinator, along with faculty members and students from AIMSR and The Apollo University. Students expressed that the exposure to internationally experienced faculty provided valuable guidance and would significantly contribute to shaping their future medical careers.
