79th Independence day celebration

The Apollo University, with its spirit of unity and pride, celebrated the 79th Independence Day of our Nation on 15th August 2025 at the Apollo Knowledge City Grounds with great enthusiasm and patriotic zeal. The crisp morning air carried with it the colors of freedom, as the campus came alive with vibrant decorations of saffron, white, and green, echoing the pride of a nation that has stood tall on the foundation of sacrifice, struggle, and resilience.

The celebration commenced at 8:00 AM with the warm reception of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. H. Vinod Bhat, accompanied by Dr. Parvathy, Mrs. VC. They were received by members of the NSS Unit, and in a symbolic gesture of sustainability, were presented with saplings and pin badges by enthusiastic NSS volunteers.

This was followed by the Guard of Honor presented to the Vice Chancellor by the University’s Security Guards, where the dedication of the senior-most guard, Mr. Reddappa, was recognized with a token of appreciation by the Hon’ble VC. The National Tricolour was unfurled by the Vice Chancellor amidst thunderous souls, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem, filling the atmosphere with pride and solemn reverence.

The Registrar, Prof. M. Potharaju, then delivered an inspiring Independence Day address, reminding the gathering that freedom is not merely a legacy to be celebrated, but a responsibility to be carried forward. Drawing inspiration from the sacrifices of the freedom fighters who are the unsung warriors, he emphasized how The Apollo University has created platforms such as student clubs to serve society. He also highlighted the vision of the Founder-Chairman, Dr. Prathap C. Reddy, whose dream is to nurture students as future-ready leaders who combine knowledge with values and service to the community.

As part of the felicitation, the Vice Chancellor, Registrar, and Deans together honored Mr. Bala Raju, Senior Security Guard, acknowledging his years of dedicated service — a gesture that symbolized the university’s ethos of respect and recognition for every contribution.

The cultural segment that followed transformed the stage into a canvas of patriotism and creativity. Students of The Apollo Knowledge City showcased their talents through a spectrum of performances:

  • The Dance Club set the tone with a spirited group dance, filling the ground with rhythm and energy.
  • The Apollo Model UN (AMUN) Club presented an engaging portrayal of Global Youth Leaders, symbolizing India’s voice in a global context.
  • The Self-Defense Club demonstrated skills of strength and protection, reminding everyone of the importance of resilience in safeguarding freedom.
  • The Theatre & Drama Club delivered a stirring act, “Unsung Warriors”, paying homage to forgotten heroes whose sacrifices shaped India’s independence.
  • Another energetic dance performance by the Dance Club wrapped up the cultural showcase with vibrancy and passion.

Adding a touch of creativity and excitement, the Fine Arts Club engaged students with patriotic face painting, while the “Best Dressed in Independence Day Theme” contest brought festive joy. The Event Management Club ensured the seamless flow of the day’s program, while the Media and Photography Club captured every moment, preserving the memories of a day filled with pride and celebration.

The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks, but the spirit it evoked continues to resonate — reminding every student and faculty member that Independence Day is not merely an annual observance, but a reaffirmation of our duty to build a nation that is stronger, brighter, and more inclusive. The 79th Independence Day at The Apollo University stood as a tribute to our nation’s hard-won freedom.
