International Women’s Day – 2023 Celebration at The Apollo University

On March 8 th, 2023, The Apollo University, Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, celebrated International Women’s Day with a variety of events and activities that highlighted the achievements and challenges faced by women around the world. The day was an opportunity for the university community to come together and reflect on the importance of gender equality and women’s empowerment. The celebration began with a keynote speech by the chief guest, Dr. Parvati Vinod Bhat, who discussed the contribution of women in our society importance of gender equity and equality. Later she inaugurated the women’s empowerment cell of The Apollo University. The inauguration ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest and other dignitaries Prof. H. Vinod Bhat, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, TAU, Dr. Sirajunnisa Rahim, HoD, Department of Pathology, Dr.Vandana Kaja, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Psychology. This was followed by the address by Dr. Vandana Kaja (Convenor of women Empowerment Cell), who spoke about the importance of women’s empowerment and the role that the Women Empowerment Cell would play in achieving the goal. The members of the cell were introduced and took an oath to work toward the empowerment of women and the promotion of gender equality in the University. In the event, University organized a felicitation ceremony to honor Dr. Sirajunnisa Rahim, HoD, Department of Pathology for her outstanding achievements and contributions in her respective fields. The event was a celebration of excellence and a recognition of her hard work and dedication. The ceremony also featured speeches by the honoree, who shared her experiences and insights with the audience. She spoke about the challenges she had faced on her journey to success, and the importance of perseverance, hard work, and passion in achieving her goals. Her speeches were inspiring and thought-provoking and resonated with the audience. The event concluded with a cultural program, featuring music, and dance performances by the staff of Apollo Knowledge City. The performances were a celebration of women’s creativity and resilience and showcased the important role of art in promoting social justice and equality.
